Words

They say, “It’s only words” and
“I love you” is naught but
If I said, “I’m in love with you” –

I might lose my heart.

Words you give, words I have but withhold;
If I said them they would be lost.

They sing, “You’ll never know” and
“It’s only words” – cheesy love songs they may be but
They resound in my ears.

Who am I kidding?

Words you gave, words I don’t have to express it all;
But I lost my heart long ago.
